The preparation for the Russia-ASEAN Summit is underway in Kazan. The Summit will take place on June 17 - 19. The road and tourism infrastructure is carried out for the event, as well as landscaping of public spaces, and enhancing security measures. Official delegations from thirteen countries, including representatives from ASEAN member states and the ASEAN Secretariat, will take part in the summit. The preparation work for the summit were discussed at a meeting chaired by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
“In two weeks we will host the international forum. ASEAN is an important diplomatic partner of our country. Southeast Asia is an actively developing region and the fifth largest economy in the world, and partnerships are very important for our country. As we know, political events lead to economic and cultural ties,”- said Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
According to Maxim Denisov, Head of the Directorate for Sports and Social Projects, a republican organizing committee has been established in Tatarstan, and 14 specialized working groups have been formed. Delegations from 13 countries, including representatives from 11 ASEAN member states, is expected to take part in the summit. Additionally, leaders from international organizations are invited to participate in the summit.
The main events will take place at the Kazan Expo, where the plenary session will be held on June 18. A gala reception on behalf of the Russian Federation will be organized at the Kamal Theatre. The Russia-ASEAN Business Forum will take place at the IT Park. The Center for Unique Skills will serve as an additional venue for the exhibition of products from Tatarstan enterprises.
Thirteen hotels will accommodate official delegations. In total, about 30 hotels will be involved to accommodate participants, including media representatives.
