The Mayor of Kazan on the replenishment of the zoo: “Such events fill the treasury of the city’s tourist attractiveness”

The news about the delivery of eight young giraffes to the Kazan Zoo has gained about 60 million views on social networks and the media. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin announced this at a staff meeting. 

“To date, the news coverage of the arrival of giraffes from Namibia amounted to 60 million views on social networks and in the media. Such events fill the treasury of the tourist attractiveness of our capital,”- said the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin. 

The Mayor noted the painstaking and hard work the arrival of the head of the Tourism Development Committee Alexander Shavliashvili and his team on the delivery of giraffes. 

“Last week, eight young giraffes were delivered to the Kazan Zoo. Alexander Shavliashvili has done a great job along with his team. This was unprecedented: over the past 20 years, giraffes have been brought to Russia for the first time by air. For reference, they are of childbearing age, so we are waiting for the offspring. There are jokes now that Kazan has become a sports capital and is becoming a giraffe center in other areas,”- said Ilsur Metshin. 

For reference, the animals from Namibia were delivered to Kazan last week. One of the giraffes has already been named Batyr.
