Irina Aksenova: "The salvation of Hotel Kazan took superhuman efforts"

(KZN.RU, June 20, by Renat Shirmanov) Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the hotel and shopping complex "Kazan" under restoration. Through restoring these important facilities, the historic center of the city awaits a new life, said the mayor.

"I’d like to thank both the restoration workers and the investors. Thanks to the restoration of such buildings as the Fuchs house and Hotel Kazan, we are witnessing the rebirth of the historic city center. I am glad that we have succeeded in restoring such important buildings in advance of the Universiade. Now our residents and visitors to the capital of Tatarstan can view and admire the pristine beauty of the former hotel Kazan,” said Ilsur Metshin.

"Until recently, there were concerns that we might lose the rest of the facade. So we had to further strengthen the wall and the foundation and save the arched columns. It took superhuman efforts," said the restoration architect and author of the hotel-shopping complex “Kazan” restoration project Irina Aksenova.

Recall that Hotel Kazan or Kazanskoye Podvorye is almost two centuries old. The building is an object of cultural heritage of federal importance.
