Vladimir Putin congratulates Student Games winners
(KZN.RU, July 12) Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Kazan in the evening on a working visit. Vladimir Putin's program includes an inspection of a number of sports facilities built for the 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan.
Thus, upon his arrival, the Russian President and his entourage visited the Rowing Center at Lake Sredny Kaban. Here Vladimir Putin spoke with the athletes – winners of the competitions in wrestling, track and field, fencing, swimming and weightlifting, who thanked him for the good sports facilities and excellent organization of the Summer Universiade in Kazan.
Vladimir Putin, in turn, expressed his gratitude to the government of the Republic of Tatarstan. He noted that it was Tatarstan that proposed holding the Summer Universiade in Kazan and had done a lot for this project.
According to Vladimir Putin, it was important that all the funds had been used for the development of the city, the construction of sports infrastructure and road junctions. All this has greatly improved the image of Kazan, which has become a chic European city, said the President of Russia.
