(KZN.RU, July 17, by Taisiya Basharkina) In a short while, Kazan may get its own "Eiffel Tower" in Gorky Park. We are talking about the pyramid that serves as the main stage of the 2013 Universiade ceremonies. This was announced by Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin at a press conference dedicated to the closing ceremony of the Universiade,.
According to Ilsur Metshin, following the Games, the pyramid could be moved to Gorky Park. "For many years, the park has been waiting for its past glory as Kazan's favorite recreation area to be restored. The pyramid is the highlight of the Summer Student Games, and we certainly want to keep it," I. Metshin said to the reporters.
The pyramid will be located at the spot overlooking the Kazanka river, where there used to be children's rides. Thus, Kazan will have its own “Eiffel Tower”. The pyramid will afford spectacular views of the city; one could sit in the cafe or go to the nearby Universiade Museum, which is also planned to be built.
