Kazan mayor elected co-president of United Cities and Local Governments
(KZN.RU, October 4, by Renat Shirmanov) Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin was re-elected co-president of United Cities and Local Governments.
The elections were held at a meeting of the World Council of UCLG, which was held at the 4th Summit of Local and Regional Leaders.
During the meeting, an election of the next capital of the World Summit of Local and Regional Leaders was held. Bogota (Colombia) and Istanbul (Turkey) bid to host the meeting.
Although the favorite was Istanbul, Kadir Topbas said that an international event of this magnitude is critical for Bogota and withdrew Istanbul's bid. Thus, the next summit will be held in Bogota.
Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas was elected President of UCLG.
