(KZN.RU, October 3, by Renat Shirmanov) Today, the Moroccan capital Rabat hosted a consultative meeting of the leaders of United Cities and Local Governments.
The participants of the meeting, which was held behind closed doors, were Mayor of Istanbul, UCLG President Kadir Topbas; Mayor of Kazan, UCLG Co-President, Chairman of the Eurasian Branch of the organization Ilsur Metshin and Chairman of the Moscow City Duma Vladimir Platonov.
Kadir Topbas thanked Ilsur Metshin for the invitation to the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Summer Universiade, held in Kazan this year. He also said that the capital of Tatarstan was flourishing and wished Ilsur Metshin success in the further development of the city.
In turn, Ilsur Metshin recalled that the Kazan Universiade was attended by representatives of 162 countries, which was an absolute Student Games record. “Our city changed greatly in anticipation of the Universiade. Among other things, a remarkable new square called "Istanbul" was laid out,” said the Mayor of Kazan.
During the talks, the parties discussed issues related to the election of leaders of United Cities and Local Governments, whose meeting is due to be held in Rabat.
