370 torchbearers to carry 2014 Olympic Flame through Kazan
(KZN.RU, December 23, by Renat Shirmanov) The 2014 Olympic Flame route in the capital of Tatarstan will include more than 230 stages. The main symbol of the 2014 Olympics will be carried through almost all city streets. This was announced at today's Business Monday meeting.
Deputy Head of the Executive Committee for Social Affairs, Laila Fazleyeva, reminded that the Olympic Relay will be held in Kazan on December 30-31. The route will go through 239 spots. The Games symbol will be carried by 370 torchbearers, more than 80 of whom will be representatives of Tatarstan. The Flame will be taken to such significant places as the Universiade Village, the Kazan Kremlin and Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University. The Relay will be completed in front of the "Kazan Arena" soccer stadium, where mass celebrations will be held afterwards.
"We remember that wherever the Universiade Flame arrived, there was a big celebration. I think that Kazan will give a big welcome to the Olympic Flame Relay. The Flame arrival on December 30 is a great honor and responsibility," concluded Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
