(KZN.RU, January 15, by Renat Shirmanov) A new technology to prevent accumulations of snow and formation of icicles on inclined roofs is being tested in Kazan. Thanks to it, roof maintenance in winter becomes much more efficient and cost effective. The technology was demonstrated to Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at 16 Stepan Khalturin Street today. The system presents a set of tubes by which an environmentally friendly reagent, produced by the Mendeleyev plant, is sprayed through the snow mass partially melting it," explained Maxim Shageyev, the CEO of the developer – LLC "Ledtay".
Absolutely safe for the urban environment, the reagent melts the snow, thus preventing ice crust formation. The resulting mixture of melted water and reagent flows through the rain gutters and cleans the pipes. The thin layer of snow remaining on the roof comes off easily by itself. Currently, the new technology is being tested at six Kazan buildings. Thanks to it, roof cleaners haven't had to climb to the top since the onset of winter.
According to the developers, in addition to its efficiency, the technology has a significant economic impact.
The Mayor of Kazan pointed out that if the technology shows itself to advantage, it should be used not only at apartment buildings, but also office buildings and other properties. "People do not care from what kind of building an icicle hits them. It's great that the technology was elaborated in Kazan, and, if proven effective, it should be promoted," summed up Ilsur Metshin .
