Ilsur Metshin meets Kazan residents engaged in organization of Olympics
(KZN.RU, February 8, by Renat Shirmanov). Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin, who is on a working visit to Sochi in the delegation of Tatarstan, wished success to Kazan residents engaged in the organization of the 22nd Winter Olympics.
The meeting was attended by RT Minister of Health Adel Vafin, representatives of the Organizing Committee of the Games, teams of volunteers, doctors and other professionals who came from Kazan to contribute to the success of the Olympics. The performers who participated in the Olympic Games opening ceremony were also invited to meet with the Mayor of Kazan.
Ilsur Metshin wondered what emotions the participants felt during yesterday's opening ceremony and asked whether they were satisfied with the food, transportation and other Olympic services. The Kazan envoys noted that the Olympics were organized at the highest level, and said how much they were helped by the experience gained at the Universiade.
The Winter Olympics in Sochi was officially launched last night. The colorful ceremony was held at the Fischt stadium. The Olympics is attended by the strongest athletes from more than 80 countries, who will compete for 98 sets of medals. Another 64 sets of medals will be awarded in the framework of the 11th Paralympic Games to be held in Sochi from March 7 to 16.
