I.Metshin: "Kazan feels engaged in what is happening in Sochi"

(KZN.RU, February 10, by Renat Shirmanov). The Olympics is a mirror of what the modern Russia can do. What has been achieved is incredible. The opening ceremony was an impressive spectacle that was worthy of our country. Such was the evaluation given by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, who had returned from a business trip to Sochi, at today's Business Monday meeting.

The Mayor noted that the Kazan representatives had been in Sochi on a working visit in the delegation of Tatarstan. "On the eve of the 2015 World Aquatics Championships and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, we learned about the experience of organizing grand scale competitions. We held meetings with top Sochi administrators and representatives of the Olympics Organizing Committee and learned about the catering and volunteer movement," said Ilsur Metshin .

Kazan Mayor recalled that during his visit, he met with Kazan envoys who were engaged in the organization of the Olympic Games. The head of the city noted with satisfaction that the experience of the Universiade was in great demand in Sochi.

"Virtually everybody used our experience and consulted our experts. The Tatarstan team at the Olympics is not only the eight athletes but also the 2.5 thousand specialists in different areas," said I. Metshin.

He also praised the preparation work done for the Olympics, especially the sports facilities.  I. Metshin shared his impressions of the grand opening of the Games. "The Organizing Committee coped with the preparation for the Olympic Games with honor. I hope to God that all goes at the same high level. We feel to be part of what is happening in Sochi, since a large number of Tatarstan natives are taking part in it," summed up I. Metshin.
