(KZN.RU, February 15, by Alisa Rozanova). A charity concert of the State Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan was held in the Salih Saydashev Grand Concert Hall. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, along with Kamalov Theater actress Nafisa Khairullina, read the symphonic fairy tale "The Nutcracker"at the invitation of Maestro Alexander Sladkovsky.
The concert was dedicated to the World Child Cancer Day. All proceeds from the ticket sales went to the children's hospice construction in Kazan.
The orchestra under Alexander Sladkovsky played Peter Tchaikovsky's famous symphonic tale
"The Nutcracker", based on E.T.A.Hoffmann story and libretto by Marius Petipa.
" It is a great honor and responsibility to be on stage tonight with such great musicians and participate in the project initiated by concerned people," said Ilsur Metshin.
As is well known, famous people are often involved in charity events – this is a common practice worldwide, and public figures support such projects not only with money, but also with deeds.
As in the previous charity concerts by the RT Symphony, the tickets had been sold out in advance, and "The Nutcracker" played to full house. The concert was accompanied with video footage of the famous Soviet cartoon "The Nutcracker" made in 1973. The performance by the students of Kazan Choreographic School further brightened the concert.
In conclusion, Alexander Sladkovsky thanked the Mayor for his participation in the concert. In turn, Ilsur Metshin expressed his gratitude to the maestro, the musicians and all concerned citizens of Kazan who took part in supporting the construction of the hospice. He also gave a check to Chairman of the Anzhela Vavilova Foundation, Vladimir Vavilov. "Thank you for what you are doing for the city and for the people who need help," he said.
Recall that this was the fourth RT Symphony charity concert involving famous people, all proceeds of which went to create the hospice. In the past years, thanks to these concerts sponsored by Chulpan Khamatova, TV presenters Liliya Gildeyeva and Dmitry Nesterov, as well as some other famous Kazan residents, about 10 million rubles were collected. Today's charity concert collected 3 million 465 thousand rubles.
The construction of the long-awaited hospice began in the summer of 2013. The first 10 wards with 12 beds for children of up to 18 years of age are due to be ready by June 1, 2014.
