(Kazan, KZN.RU, August 21 by Adel Galiyev). A new project will be launched in Kazan in the beginning of the new academic year – the first international school will open in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin announced at today's August educators conference "Kazan Education 2014: New Understanding – New Resources – New Quality Results."
According to Ilsur Metshin, the school, where instruction will be in English, is a long-awaited infrastructure solution, important not only for the city but also for the republic as a whole. "We have been working on this project for the past four years, trying to attract the best international experts with experience in establishing similar schools in the CIS and Europe and studying the best international practices," said the mayor of Kazan, speaking about the project preparation.
"Tatarstan desperately needed a school for the children of foreign scientists, senior managers, university professors, athletes and bankers working in the republic," said the mayor. The head of the city said that the republic was fully integrated in today's international sporting and cultural space; for this reason, Kazan, in order to further develop, needs to attract the best professionals from around the world. "To be honest, no one wanted to stay here for a long time for the simple reason that he or she could not bring along the family," said the mayor. The international school aims to solve this problem. Its diplomas will be recognized by the world's best universities.
As the mayor of Kazan pointed out, although the path to accreditation takes 2.5 – 3 years, the most difficult first steps have already been taken. Thus, it is planned to launch the first three grades on September 1.
