(Kazan, KZN.RU, March 20, by Zilya Gayfi) The "Syuyumbike" tunnel-boring machine was put into operation in Kazan today. It will bore a tunnel from the future "Dubravnaya" station to "Prospekt Pobedy." The launching ceremony was attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
The "Dubravnaya" station will be the last one on Kazan's first subway line. The construction of a second line will start from the "Ju. Fucik" station.
Rustam Minnikhanov noted that subway construction in Kazan is a strategic project that must continue even in times of crisis. "Despite the crisis and sanctions, life goes on. Subway is one of the most affordable and convenient means of public transportation. "Dubravnaya" is the last station on the first line and a transfer station at the same time. Design of the second line has already started. Our subway construction workers are the best; they work in Moscow. There is no doubt that the tasks will be fulfilled. Way to go!" said the president of the Republic of Tatarstan.
