Kazan adopts experience of Istanbul in solving urban problems
To learn to solve many of the urban problems successfully on the best practice in Istanbul - this is the main objective of the three-day visit of Kazan delegation to the capital of Turkey. This in a telephone interview said the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Yesterday Kazan delegation headed by Mayor Ilsur Metshin flew to the sister city Istanbul on the invitation of the Mayor Kadir Topbash. The official meeting between the two city governors was held on 21st July in the Mayor΄s Office of the capital of Turkey. Ilsur Metshin greeted those present on behalf of President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, the people of the republic, the inhabitants of its capital - Kazan.
Mayor of Kazan, who is the president of Euro-Asian Regional Branch of the world organization "United Cities and Local Governments (EAR UCLG), presented a letter to Kadir Topbash. It deals with that cities, part of the Eurasian Office, support the nomination of Kadir Topbash as a president of the world organization UCLG.
According Ilsur Metshin, the official program of the visit of the Kazan delegation in Istanbul is very rich. Among the objects planned to visit appear: Center for Urban Planning of Istanbul, a sports complex of Sinan Erdem, a social complex Floria (recreation center), a historical museum "Panorama 1453" and the city park Topkapy with a tour of the Museum Complex of Turkic peoples, a hospital «Medical Park» .
A separate item on agenda is a visit to a road junction near Ataturk Airport and the Control Centre of the traffic. "We are studying the experience of traffic management in the city. With the increasing number of vehicles and the forthcoming Universiade this issue is very important for our city,"- says Ilsur Metshin.
"All the objects are very important - shares his opinion the head of Kazan - Our delegation went to Istanbul to explore the best practice of the capital of Turkey in solving urban problems in the example of specific objects. Our goal is to learn the successful solution of these issues. To understand and to adapt experience in Kazan".
Recall that in 2002 between Kazan and the Istanbul was signed a protocol about sister city relationship.
A month ago, on June 19th, Mayor of Istanbul Kadir Topbash and his wife visited the capital of Tatarstan on the invitation of the Mayor of Kazan. The Turkish guests took part in the festival "Izge Bolgar zhyeny" on the occasion of 1121st anniversary of the adoption of Islam and visited Kazan Sabantuy holiday.
