I. Metshin "Embankments of Kaban Lake will be a new type of public space in Kazan"

(KZN.RU, July 7, Albert Murtazin). The short list for an open competition to develop the concept of the embankments of Kaban Lake is formed. Following the meeting, the jury, chaired by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, selected the top 10 out of 65 projects submitted for discussion.

Ilsur Metshin thanked the Acting President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov for his proposed initiative to hold the competition for the best project of the embankments. Recall, the idea of ​​holding such a competition was born during the one of R.Minnihanov’s expections of Kazan's historical center. It was then raised the question of the creation of the project for reconstruction of the right bank of the Nizhny Kaban Lake. Upon further discussion, it became clear that it is necessary to create a unified vision for the embankments of Kazan lakes: the Upper, Middle and Lower, from channels adjacent to the Bulak and to the site, where the Sabantuy of Privoljsky area usually takes place.

Start to an open competition to develop the concept of the embankments of lakes of Kaban was given on June 18. The contest, organized by the Agency of strategic development "Center", is open and two-step in the format. In the first stage, to take part in the competition all interested were must apply online and submit a relevant portfolio. This means that in the experience of a team that offers a solution should be at least three completed projects that are relevant to the theme of improvement of embankments and public spaces of the city. The assessment of each project is carried out of the jury, which is chaired by Ilsur Metshin, and advisory council, headed by Natalia Fishman. The two-stage evaluation system is needed in order to make the most accurate assessment of the feasibility of the project, its cost and specific technical solutions.

"It will be a plan of embankments, adopted by a single concept, in which something will be done next year, something - a year later, something - after 5 years. But the main thing - we will see the tomorrow Kazan in a project ", - said I. Metshin. "I am happy about development of Kazan with residents of the city. Recently we could not even dream about creating public spaces in the city, to connect the system of embankments with bicycle and pedestrian paths. But today we have grown up to discuss this issue ", - Ilsur Metshin stressed the importance of competition.
