(KZN.RU, July 7). The second series of urban conference
"Cities and territories tomorrow: tools for positive changes" is
taking place today in Kazan. The event was attended by Acting President of the
Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, heads
of other cities of the republic, representatives of legislative and executive
authorities, business circles, leading Russian and international experts in the
field of urban studies, urban planning, economics and sociology.
This year similar events have been held in Khabarovsk and
Samara. After Kazan similar forums will be held in Novosibirsk and St.
Petersburg. Moscow Urban Forum will complete a series of conferences, it will
be held this fall.
The conference is held by a conglomerate of experts - the
Center for Urban Studies "Skolkovo", Federal Center for Project
Finance with the support of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce. Directorate program
of conferences is "Strelka" Institute. The strategic partner for the
second year is "Bank of Moscow".
In frames of the conference plenary session "Water in a
modern city" were held today. Participants discussed the strategy for the
development and rational use of coastal areas of the rivers Volga and Kazanka,
the creation of the modern embankment and the development of common standards
of improvement of spaces next to water reservoirs.
During the day at the conference "round tables" on
such topics as "Public Infrastructure: a deficit budget",
"Innopolis: The first city of XXI century in Russia", as well as a meeting of
"Civil Participation in the management of the city" will be held.
