(KZN.RU,
September 13, Ekaterina Vislavskaya). At the end of 2018, , it is planned to
put into operation the second map of the landfill for solid household waste on
Khimicheskaya Street, №33, in Kazan. It is designed to receive garbage for
about 6 years. Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, visited the object and noted
that the Kazan citizens should take an even more active part in the sorting of
waste so that in future the burial of garbage in the city was reduced to zero.
The
arrangement of the second map of the landfill is another stage of the
implementation of the transition program to a new waste management system in
the territory of Kazan. Within the framework of the program “Chisty Gorod”, two
waste transfer stations were opened. A landfill corresponding to environmental
safety standards was built at Khimicheskaya Street, №33, and the landfill
“Vostochny” was launched.
The first
map of the landfill on Khimicheskaya Street, №33, is already filled and is not
used for waste storage. Andrey Yurchenkov, the director of OOO “PZKhK”,
informed the Mayor that the work on the creation of the second map is still
ongoing. For today, excavation was created, the soil was compacted, an
anti-filtration screen made of geotextiles and geomembranes designed to prevent
drains into the groundwater is produced, and a backfill is performed to protect
the geomembrane. The total area of the landfill together with the
infrastructure is more than 23 hectares, in total, about 150 hectares with a
sanitary zone. In this case, the first map together with the storage pond and
the road reaches 8.9 hectares, the second – 6.4 hectares. “The total capacity
of the entire landfill is 2 million 885 thousand cubic meters or tons, because
due to the use of modern technology the coefficient of compaction reaches one.
This is a very good indicator”, said Andrey Yurchenkov. All construction and
installation work is planned to be completed by November 1 and commissioned in
December.
He added
that the second map of the landfill is designed for approximately 6 years of
use, provided that about 400 thousand tons of garbage will be buried a year.
Now 550 thousand tons of garbage is being recycled in this way. It is exported
to the landfill “Vostochny”, but with the launch of the second map of the test
site at Khimicheskaya Street, №33, will be distributed in half. However, the
first map of the “Vostochny” will also be filled in 2 years later, added
Iskander Giniyatullin, the deputy head of the Kazan Executive Committee. It
means that the task of a separate waste collection will be realized.
The Mayor
of Kazan noted that the landfills for the storage of solid household waste are
filled very quickly, and it is important to eventually reach the zero burial.
“So far the only option is sorting, so that as little as possible garbage gets
here, and more goes for recyclable materials. The second exit is a zero
burial”, he warned. “23 ha stolen in the city for garbage. We are already
surrounded by landfills, and neighbors will not be happy if we go further and
take out our garbage to them. Therefore, now it is about a zero burial. In the
meantime, we need to sort, send to recyclables as much garbage as possible. To
do this, it is necessary to educate people, youth, and children”.
In August,
a pilot project for separate waste collection had been launched in the
Aviastroitelny district. 428 special bins are installed at 109 container
sites.
