(KZN.RU,
August 26, Ksenia Shvetsova). On City Day, almost 1.5 thousand police officers
and national guard troops will provide public order protection in Kazan. Prior
to the celebrations, all sites are examined by sappers and dog handlers with
specially trained dogs. Mass checkpoints equipped with metal detectors will be
installed, said Alexander Mishikhin, the head of the Russian Interior
Ministry’s Department in Kazan, at the Business Monday.
During the
days of the WorldSkills Championship, the Kazan police serve in heavy mode,
which will last until the end of the events dedicated to City Day. Thus, to
ensure public safety, traffic police units have been enhanced in the main
directions of traffic. The most attention is paid to checking vehicles coming
from other regions.
“Particular
attention is paid to metro facilities. Daily dog handlers conduct dog
inspections of vestibules, platforms, pedestrian crossings and trains”,
reported A. Mishikhin.
On August
30, festive events will be held at 13 sites in the city. Each of them has
responsible heads of the Ministry of Internal Affairs assigned. Before the
festivities, all venues for events and adjacent territories will be examined by
sappers and dog handlers with trained dogs. After that, the inspected
territories will be protected with barriers. Citizens must go through
checkpoints equipped with metal detectors.
“In order
to strengthen anti-terrorist protection and eliminate the possibility of
unauthorized vehicles entering the sites, special engineering structures with
heavy vehicles will be installed”, added A. Mishikhikhin.
On August
30, almost 1.5 thousand police officers and troops of the National Guard,
private security organizations, participants in voluntary people's squads and
municipal employees will provide public order protection. Traffic safety and
parking will be controlled by traffic police.
Additional
posts from the number of patrol officers were formed to enhance security at the
stations of the Kazan metro. The police departments provided on-duty shifts for
additional investigative-operational groups to travel, if necessary, to the
scene of events.
“I’m sure
that, residents and guests of the city will be sympathetic to the measures
taken despite the temporary inconvenience associated with changing bus routes
and conducting screening events. In general, the entire composition of the
Kazan police garrison is ready to fulfill the assigned tasks”, concluded the
head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Kazan.
Ilsur
Metshin, the Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan, ordered to pay special
attention to the issues of ensuring the safety of citizens. “We have been
working under heavy load all this week. All planned events must be carried out
on the high level, without any disruption”, said I. Metshin.
