The anti-crisis law
potential, the issues of training and digitalization of civil proceedings were
discussed today at the plenary session of the first Kazan International Legal
Forum “The Right to Law”. The forum, which brought together about 400
participants from six countries and more than 30 cities, opened in the Imperial
Hall of Kazan Federal University.
“The topic of the forum "The Right to Law” is very consonant with the present
day, – Lenar Safin, the rector of the university noted in a welcoming speech. –
Today it is important to find the points of support on which the domestic and
international legal order will be based. And we would like to unite lawyers,
authorities, the legal community to choose expert positions and discuss topical
issues in our university”.
On behalf of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, the forum participants
were greeted by Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin.
According to him, the forum discussions are more relevant than ever. Law is the
foothold of society and the state, and Tatarstan has always shared a similar
position, F.Mukhametshin noted. “Speaking about our beautiful city, I would
like to note that Kazan rightfully occupies a prominent place in the history of
Russian jurisprudence thanks to its own law school, formed within the walls of
Kazan University more than 200 years ago”, - the Chairman of Tatarstan State
Council noted.
“It is hard to overestimate the contribution of Kazan University in the
development of legal science and education in our country, - Ilsur Metshin, the
Mayor of Kazan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees and a graduate of the
university's law faculty, confirmed. - Since the foundation of the university,
a moral and political faculty has been established, where lawyers were trained
for from the Volga to the Far East of the Russian Empire”.
I.Metshin reminded
that such famous figures of science, culture and politics as Dmitry Meyer,
Gabriel Shershenevich, Sergey Aksakov, Lev Tolstoy and Vladimir Lenin were
students of the law faculty. “The modern history of the law faculty, which
resumed its operation at Kazan State University 70 years ago, is no less
glorious and significant. As a graduate of the law faculty, I can say with
confidence and pride that many outstanding scientists and the best specialists
in their field have worked at the faculty and continue to make a significant
contribution to the development of law schools”, - the Mayor said.According to
him, the Kazan International Legal Forum allows exchanging ideas, searching for
solutions to legal issues, as well as providing a new impetus to scientific
research.
At the end of
his speech, I. Metshin awarded medals and the Dmitry Meyer Prize to Talia
Khabrieva, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the
Institute of Legislation and Comparative Law under the Government of the
Russian Federation, and Vladimir Yarkov, Head of the Department of Civil Proceedings
at the Ural State Law University.
The first Kazan International Legal Forum will end on September 30 in
Innopolis. The business program includes expert presentations and open panel
discussions on education and career, science, innovation and business. The
moderators of the sections will be representatives of KFU. Thus, the Dean of
the Law Faculty Lilia Bakulina will moderate the section “The future of legal
education in Russia”.
