Vadim Repin impressed by Tatarstan Symphony
(KZN.RU, September 22, by Alisa Rozanova) The 47th concert season of the State Symphony Orchestra of Tatarstan opened with works by Jean Sibelius and Johannes Brahms at the Saidashev Grand Concert Hall. The concert gathered full house of classical music lovers, including Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Vadim Repin, Knight of the French Order of Arts and Letters, who is reputed to be one of the best violinists of our time, played the solo. The “Russian Paganini”, as the Novosibirsk violinist is known abroad, performed Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in D minor by Jean Sibelius. The instrument maestro played was his own 1743 Bonjour violin by Guarneri del Gesù.
Vadim Repin was greatly impressed by the professionalism of the State Orchestra of Tatarstan. “One doesn’t hear the likes of it even in Europe! Today's concert left me with one of the strongest impressions of the last ten years,” said the virtuoso.
