(KZN.RU, September 24) The first-ever FISU-Gala ceremony was held in Kazan last weekend. During the ceremony, university sports awards were presented and the FISU flag was transferred to the city of Trentino (Italy).
Eminent athletes - London Olympic champions Alexander Volkov, Maxim Mikhailov, Alexei Obmochaev, Nikolai Apalikov, Yuri Berezhko and Yulia Zaripova – were awarded the honorary title of 2013 Universiade Ambassador. Sports awards in the shape of a star formed by transparent rays of the FISU colors were also presented at the ceremony. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin received the Best Promotional FISU Project - 2013Kazan Universiade award. It was presented to the organizing committee on preparation and holding of the 22nd World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan for innovating the promotion of the Games brand.
