From April 28 to May 1, 90 thousand people visited the capital of the republic
of Tatarstan. According to preliminary estimates during the May holidays, the
average hotel load was 83%. This was announced at the staff meeting by the
director of the Committee for Tourism Development Daria Sannikova.
“The number of tourists increases every year. When we were developing
the 2030 development strategy of the city until, we announced that we would aim
for 5 million tourists per year. To some, it seemed sky-high. Then it was a
figure from the realm of fiction. But we are definitely not science fiction, we
made plans, relied on the best experience, studied the world experience. Today,
these figures no longer seem sky–high to us,”- said Mayor Ilsur Metshin.
He reminded that this year the capital of Tatarstan will host the BRICS
Games and the BRICS Summit – preparation for such major international events
will bring the hospitality infrastructure to a new level. The Mayor also
thanked the representatives of the industry who contribute to its development.
“A new theater is being built, and the Rais (Head) of our republic sets
the task to build this facility and improve the surrounding area by the summit.
We are on the eve of the start of construction of the cathedral mosque. We have
a huge construction site near “Riviera” hotel, which will not only decorate the
Kazanka embankment and the beauty of the coastal areas of the city, but also
provide new hotels, offices, shopping malls, and public spaces. Of course,
Kazan residents will receive the main benefit from this,”- Ilsur Metshin noted.
He added that the city's leadership is closely monitoring the mood of
those who come to Kazan. After a good trip, tourists often recommend their
friends to visit the capital of Tatarstan. At the same time, the work is aimed
not only at creating new facilities, but also at improving the level of
service.
“Ambitious targets allow us to improve ourselves. We have already
started inspection of our hotels. We work in partnership with hoteliers. All
this takes Kazan to a completely different level,”- the Mayor concluded.
According to Daria Sannikova, the Kazan Kremlin Museum-Reserve remains
the most popular place for tourists to visit. It was visited by 192 thousand
people, which is 27% more than in the same period last year.
Another popular place is the observation deck of the Kazan Family
Center. It accounted for almost 25 thousand people, which is 24% more than last
year.
About 3,300 people came to see the exposition of the City Panorama
Museum – this is 2.5 times more than in 2023. The Chak-chak Museum was visited
by 1,505 tourists during the May holidays.
Excursions on a red double-decker bus are also very popular. More than
three thousand people rode on such tourist transport (26% more than last year).
Water trips occupy a special place. In particular, 6,500 people sailed
along Kaban Lake by water transport. About 1,700 more people got acquainted
with Kazanskaya on a river tram.
