By the end of August, the first inclusive center with an educational and training apartment for children with disabilities will open on Ippodromnaya Street in Kazan. The facility has an area of 224 square meters, which is undergoing renovation, will work in two shifts: as a kindergarten for kids aged 2-6 years and as a training apartment for schoolchildren. Up to 100 children per day will be able to attend adaptive physical education and boxing classes, a creative class, sensory-motor integration classes, and career guidance class.
Additionally, at the request of the mothers of children with disabilities, there will be a cafe. Today, the Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, inspected progress of renovation of the inclusive center in the Privolzhsky district and announced plans to launch another one shortly– in the Novo-Savinovsky district.
“It is great that you continue developing. Two years ago, we opened the first training apartment in the Sovetsky district. I know that there is a great demand there, we met with the parents of special children. Today we are taking the next step. Thanks to Tatyana Merzlyakova (head of the Good Kazan NGO – editor's note) for conducting patronage and collecting information on the number of children that need special education,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
Educational and training apartments for children with disabilities will be opened in each district on behalf of the Mayor of Kazan – mothers of special children asked for this at a meeting with him. Ilsur Metshin announced plans to launch another center shortly. “We have agreed this year to open a training apartment in the Novo-Savinovsky district. There should be at least one apartment in each district of the city for the education of children with disabilities,” the head of the city said.
According to Tatyana Merzlyakova, head of the Good Kazan, the leisure center on Ippodromnaya Street is designed for 100 children. They will be trained by 11 tutors, and it is planned to invite parents to classes. The facility will work as a kindergarten for children with mental disorders and autism spectrum disorders. In two groups for kids 2-4 years old and 4-6 years old, eight children will be engaged, each will be assigned a tutor. In the second shift, the center will be able to accept students with intellectual disabilities and ASD, recruitment is currently underway.
“The most difficult thing for any training center is to hire professionals. We need special teachers who love children, have patience and endurance, as well as special skills. It's great that you're finding new ways to work with special children. We will definitely develop and support this. Good job!” – Ilsur Metshin addressed the management of the institution.
For children, the inclusive center will equip sports and gyms, a creative workshop (for cooking, typography, applied creativity), as well as a sensory-motor integration room. At the initiative of the mothers of children with disabilities, a cafe will be located there.
