Renovation of tram networks and storm drains, as well as new medical centers: projects to be implemented in Kazan in 2027

Today, Rustam Minnikhanov addressed the annual message at the 23rd session of the State Council of Tatarstan. During his speech, he outlined key projects for 2027. Deputies, heads of enterprises and public organizations, representatives of republican and city authorities, as well as the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, attended the meeting.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Russian Government for their support of the republic.

The Rais (Head) of Tatarstan reported on the work of industry, small and medium-sized businesses, educational organizations and the social sphere, outlining the main tasks for the next year.

Large-scale work is underway in Tatarstan on the renovation of utilities: over the past three years, more than 1,400 km of networks were replaced, which is more than in the previous 30 years. The development of the transport infrastructure continues. One of the key directions will be the renovation of public transport in Kazan. The republic will implement a five-year program for the modernization of electric transport with an annual funding for 1 billion rubles. In 2026, it is planned to open a new terminal of Kazan International Airport, designed for 5.7 million passengers per year. The Rais of Tatarstan also focused on the Our Yard program. In 2027, it is planned to complete the program – another 243 yards of apartment buildings will be renovated.

A teacher support program will continue in Kazan, including allowances for young professionals, grants, and housing certificates.

The Russian President has entrusted Kazan with hosting the 7th World Nomad Games in 2028.

Rustam Minniakhnov declared 2027 the Year of Mintimer Shaimiev.

The Mayor of Kazan commented the ambition of the upcoming projects. “Rustam Nurgalievich recalled in his speech the large scale work done last year in the republic. However, we must focus on the upcoming tasks. It was important for me, as the Mayor, to hear about the development of public transport: the five-year program provides not only for the renewal of rolling stock, but also for the renovation of infrastructure. The Our Yard program is very important, because it unites all residents. We will complete its implementation next year,”- Ilsur Metshin said.
