(KZN.RU, April 26, by Alisa Rozanova) Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected restoration work in the Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda.
The mayor visited the Kazakov and Kushaev manors under reconstruction, located at Nos. 3 and 5 Kayum Nasyri Street. The buildings are reconstructed in compliance with the archival documents using authentic materials. The owner – "Kamastroyinvest" – plans to open a hotel and a Tatar cuisine restaurant in the reconstructed buildings, as well as dairy, butcher's and other shops, traditional for the settlement.
The mayor endorsed the plans and advised delving into history when choosing the complex name. "We need to find out the names of local merchants' shops so that not only the architecture but also the old place names would reflect the spirit of Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda," he concluded.
Thе mayor continued his inspection of Mardzhani Street visiting No. 8 – Sabitov's manor, an early 20th-century monument of residential architecture, which will house a hotel-restaurant complex "Tatarskaya Sloboda". It will include a hotel, a winter garden overlooking Lake Kaban and a summer observation deck.
