(KZN.RU, July 3, by Taisiya Basharkina) 4,850 volunteers from 35 regions of Russia and 24 countries have arrived in Kazan to take part in the Universiade. This morning, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin acquainted himself with the volunteers’ living conditions. He emphasized that the success of the Games will largely depend on their attitude.
The head of the city visited the town of Yudino, where the largest group of student volunteers – 2,230 people – is accommodated. These are mainly volunteers from nearby regions. The second major base is located at the Orenburg highway, where 2,000 volunteers from foreign countries and distant regions of Russia are stationed.
"You are our guests, but first of all you are our assistants. A lot will depend on the way you work at the facilities. After all, not everyone can be a volunteer. This is a valuable experience for you. If I were 19 years old, I would have joined the volunteers. The Universiade is the adventure of the summer of 2013!" the mayor addressed the young people.
Recall that some 20,000 volunteers will be involved in the Games, about 5,000 of whom came from outside Kazan.
