President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov acquainted himself with the work of the center. The opening was also attended by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Tatarstan’s President stressed that "Kazan-Arena" perfectly fits the image of the city. "And this is the only stadium in Russia, which meets all the World Cup requirements," said Minnikhanov.
The Main Media Centre is one of the Games major facilities. It is located on two floors of "Kazan-Arena" and covers an area of over 6,200 sq.m. The Center will work around the clock; daily press conferences with the Games organizers, sponsors and participants will be held there.
The Media Center is divided into two parts: the Main Press Center and the International Broadcast Center. The International Broadcast Center will receive and process the Universiade television signal, beam it to a satellite and then to more than 100 countries worldwide. Broadcasting on this scale will be carried out for the first time in Russia. The equipment used at the Kazan Games will also be used at the Sochi Olympics in 2014.
