(KZN.RU, July 4, by Ekaterina Andreyeva) Double-decker bus sightseeing tours of the historic center of the capital of Tatarstan will be launched tomorrow. Today, the “City Sightseeing Russia” project was presented to Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
Kazan became the 101st city in the world where the project was implemented. The only other Russian city to have double-decker bus sightseeing is Moscow.
The Kazan one-hour-long tour covers the historic part of the city. Tourists will be able to visit Staro-Tatarskaya Sloboda (The Old Tatar Settlement), the Kazan Kremlin, the Literary and Museum Quarter, the Kazanka waterfront, Ploschad Svobody (Freedom Square) and Bauman street. The ticket is valid for 24 hours after first taking the bus and will permit the rider to get on and off an unlimited number of times.
"I’m impressed,” said Ilsur Metshin during the trip. ”Such projects are not trifling matters in the infrastructure of the city. I’ve seen such buses in many cities of America and Europe. Today, Kazan has a lot to show and to see. More than 300 building facades have been restored in the historic center. True, from the upper deck, I can see what else I have to do as mayor."
There will be two double-deckers running every 20-30 minutes. An audioguide in eight languages will be provided: in Russian, Tatar, English, Spanish, German, French, Chinese and Turkish.
