(KZN.RU, August 10, by Taisiya Basharkina) Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin used the “Veli'K” public bike rental today, riding with Executive Committee head Alexei Pesoshin from Kremlyovskaya Street to Svobody Square.
"Everything is so simple and user-friendly," Ilsur Metshin shared his impressions of the ride. “It is necessary to develop this mode of transportation in Kazan, for cyclists around the world are as legitimate road users as are car and public transportation drivers."
According to the Kazan project manager Igor Kudrichev, with whom the Mayor had a talk at the bike rental station, the “Veli'K” bike rental is extremely popular with Kazan residents and visitors. There are no fewer than 300 rental rides daily, and during the Universiade, rentals peaked at 700 per day.
Recall that bike rentals were launched in Kazan on July 1. To date, the city has seven automatic rental stations with 120 bikes. By the end of the summer, five new stations are due to open.
