Kazan to launch celebrations of City and Republic Day
(KZN.RU, August 19, by Taisiya Basharkina) The new venue to celebrate the Day of the City and the Republic this year will be the grounds in front of the "Kazan-Arena" football stadium, built in advance of the Universiade. A gala concert featuring Russia's pop stars will be held here August 30. This was announced by Deputy Chair of the Executive Committee Leila Fazleeva at City Hall's Business Monday meeting.
The festivities will begin at Kazan City Hall on August 30 with honoring distinguished citizens and entering new names in the Book of Honor. A traditional President of the Republic of Tatarstan Prize Horse Race will be held in the international equestrian complex "Kazan" on the same day. A gala concert featuring Russia's pop stars will be held near the "Kazan-Arena" stadium from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. At 10:00 pm, fireworks will lit up the sky over the Kazanka river.
Regional festivities to celebrate the Day of the City will begin on August 22.
City Mayor Ilsur Metshin called on those present to do everything possible to mark the Day of the City in a fitting manner. "For us, any celebration is a cause to improve the work of urban services. All those responsible for the conduct of the holiday should be on full alert. As for the entertainment, it is designed to cater to different tastes. However, despite the differences, all of us will be united by the fireworks in Kazan's sky," he said.
