(KZN.RU, October 2, by Taisiya Basharkina) Preparation for the celebration of one of the most important dates in the history of our country – the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War – should attract a maximal number of people. All events dedicated to this date should be conducted in a proper manner, Mayor Ilsur Metshin said at a meeting of the Organizing Committee for Celebrating the 70th Anniversary of the Victory.
According to the City Department of Social Protection, 24,959 WWII veterans currently live in Kazan. Ilsur Metshin stressed that each participant of the Great Patriotic War will have to be reached in person and provided with social and financial support. "The 70 anniversary of the Victory is a great event for all of us, and we must thoroughly prepare for it and mark it honorably," he emphasized.
It is also planned to improve the streets named in honor of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and put in order the memorial zones, memorial plaques, common and individual graves, monuments and obelisks.
