Ilsur Metshin awarded Vitaly Mutko Freedom of the City of Kazan
(KZN.RU, October 29, by Renat Shirmanov) The Mayor of the capital of Tatarstan Ilsur Metshin gave Sports Minister Vitaly Mutko Freedom of the City of Kazan. The ceremony, attended by President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, was held at City Hall.
The decision to award Vitaly Mutko was taken at the 24th extraordinary session of Kazan City Duma. The Minister of Sports of Russia was honored for his outstanding contribution to the socio-economic development and prosperity of Kazan, raising the profile of the city and enhancing the image of the capital of Tatarstan on the international arena.
"In recent years we have worked together with the Ministry of Sports of Russia. Mr. Mutko supervised preparation for the 2013 Universiade. The main result of our joint effort was the success of the Student Games, which raised Kazan to a new level," said Rustam Minnikhanov.
In turn, Ilsur Metshin noted that it was an honor to award Vitaly Mutko on behalf of all residents of the capital of Tatarstan. The Mayor of Kazan recalled that the 2013 Universiade was recognized as the best in the history of the Games and had a record number of participants.
