(KZN.RU, December 2, Taisiya Basharkina) Active preparations for the New Year holidays have begun in the capital of Tatarstan: city illuminations, setting up New Year trees and holiday villages. At an Executive Committee operational meeting, Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin requested that festive decorations of the capital of Tatarstan be arranged at the highest possible level. "We saw how beautiful our city could be during an international event, and now is the time to please the residents and guests with New Year decorations," he emphasized.
This year, Kazan's principal New Year tree, as in the past, will be located in Millennium Park and will be lit on December 25. In addition to the principal beauty, 80 more trees and holiday villages will be set up, 10 more than last year.
The main event of the New Year holidays will be welcoming the Olympics Flame outside the Kazan Arena stadium on December 31. On this day, a festival will be held for all residents of the city, with the program catering for different age groups.
"The Holiday Season is a busy time for city services, a time of hard work and great responsibility. Nevertheless, we must give the people a bright and memorable holiday and create holiday spirit," summed up Ilsur Metshin.
