I. Metshin: "We begin the Year of Culture in Kazan with a concert by the Youth...
(KZN.RU, January 26, by Alisa Rozanova). A long-awaited concert under the "Heritage of the Republic" project was held at S.Saydashev Concert Hall. Classical works by European composers were performed by the RT State Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Alexander Sladkovsky and the musicians of the RT Youth Symphony Orchestra under Svetlana Los. The guests were greeted by Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
The mayor called today's concert a rare event: on the stage were professionals "known far beyond the republic" and young talents of the city. "2014 was declared the Year of Culture in Russia and Tatarstan, and I am very glad that we begin the Year of Culture in Kazan with this concert," said the Mayor.
Today, the Youth Symphony Orchestra includes 73 music schools students, the youngest of whom is only nine. An extensive new program was prepared by the orchestra for "Heritage of the Republic".
Ilsur Metshin thanked the music school teachers and the musicians' parents "for fostering young and beautiful talents – our pride. This project will be lovingly promoted. I want to assure City Hall
that I will do everything possible to ensure that our young musicians reveal their talents to the full and will mature into the youth team of a larger orchestra, which will present music to the citizens of Kazan, Tatarstan and beyond," concluded Ilsur Metshin.
