Ilsur Metshin presented commemorative medals to veterans of the Great Patriotic War
Today in the Kazan City Hall was held a ceremony of investiture of jubilee medals "65 years of Victory in Great Patriotic War 1941 - 1945"
At the celebration were invited 49 veterans, former prisoners of Nazi concentration camps, the inhabitants of besieged Leningrad. Medals and prizes they were given by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
"This medal - not only the anniversary award, in the first place - it is a sign of deep respect of the state and the entire Russian people to you - the generation of winners! Your heroism, fortitude, love to homeland will always serve as an example for us, - said at the ceremony Ilsur Metshin. - On this day each of us feel pride for our soldiers, for courage and valor of our countrymen - all those who fought for Victory at the front and rear.
The Mayor thanked the veterans for their courage, fortitude, hard work and active citizenship.
"I sincerely wish you all health, longevity, courage, warmth, understanding of family, happiness and peaceful sky over your heads!" - warmly congratulated the veterans Ilsur Metshin.
WWII veteran Valentin Dautov, who participated in the storming of Berlin, spoke at the ceremony, how he happened to see "white Berlin". May 2, 1945, when bloody battles ended in the center of Berlin, from every window in the city were hung white sheets or white cloth, because of this city has become white. I am happy that he had seen "white Berlin", and doubly happy that I can tell about it "- he admitted.
During April in the capital of Tatarstan commemorative medals will be awarded to more than 39 thousands of war veterans and home front workers. Of the 39 thousand awards more than 33 thousands will receive workers of rear, more than 4 thousands - disabled war veterans and participants of the Great Patriotic War, 137 - former inmates of concentration camps, 242 - residents of besieged Leningrad, about 2 thousands- widowsof the deceased.
