(Kazan City KZN.RU, December 8, Ksenia Shvetsova). Gala concert of the festival "Freshman Day" among post-secondary educational institutions of the city was held in Kazan. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin met with the activists of the government of colleges. He congratulated yesterday's entrants with the acquisition of the new status and reminded that today's students will become participants of the world championship of professional skills «WorldSkills Competition», which will be held in Kazan in 2019.
"I heartily congratulate you and wish you good luck in your studies, - I. Metshin appealed to the young participants of the festival. - 28,000 students study in Kazan colleges – it is a real creative young army. And you, today's freshmen, will have the honor to defend not only Kazan, but the republic and the whole country at the World Cup «WorldSkills». This is a great opportunity for you to improve your skills and show the world that the best and professional students are in Kazan colleges". The Mayor also thanked the teachers and leaders of colleges for their work and for the fact that they have introduced a new tradition for Kazan – to celebrate a festival "Freshman Day" not only among university students but also in post-secondary educational institutions.
Festival "Freshman Day" among post-secondary education is carried out in Kazan since 2013. This year's festival movement was attended by about 1,000 students from 23 colleges of Kazan. They presented to the jury 198 numbers in four different areas: dance, music, theater and original genre. The jury evaluated all colleges participating in the festival, and 7 educational institutions of the city received awards for the best performances of creative groups.
