I. Metshin took part in the inspection of medical facilities of KFU
(Kazan City KZN.RU, December 21). President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov visited the main medical facilities of the Kazan Federal University. Head of the republic was accompanied by the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin.
The first point on the program was a visit to the neurological department of RCH-2 at Volkov street. Reconstruction was completed here recently. As the director of the Institute of Biology and Fundamental Medicine of KFU Andrei Kiyasov told, today translational medicine, aimed at improving the quality of health care through the translation of the results of advanced research in the field of diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation, is actively developing at the university clinic.
Genomic center, created in cooperation with Japanese scientists, was showed to visitors. One of the first projects implemented here is checking of drugs on harmlessness. As the employees of the center told, today many drugs have side effects, and they are closely related to the human genotype. These studies will allow conducting detailed work in this area.
The President and his accompanying toured the classrooms, where both students and current doctors will receive the necessary knowledge, diagnostic laboratory, bio bank and clean rooms for work with human cells.
Another object during the inspection was the department of therapy and neurology of City Emergency Hospital №2 at Schmidt street. Today overhaul continues here, during which available infrastructure will be fully updated and advanced equipment will be imported. Another object - a city hospital №2, built in 1849, expects reconstruction.
Finally, Rustam Minnikhanov appreciated the renovated premises in the second educational-laboratory building of KFU. In particular, he examined the marble hall and the center of linguistic competence of the Institute of International Relations, History and Oriental Studies, the press service of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan informs.
In addition to the President of Tatarstan and the Mayor of Kazan, the inspertion was attended by Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan Asgat Safarov, Rector of KFU Ilshat Gafurov, Minister of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan Adel Vafin, Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing of Tatarstan Irek Faizullin, representatives of ministries and departments.
