Ilsur Metshin ordered not to delay the landscaping of Kazan recreational areas

(KZN.RU, July 26, Kseniya Shvetsova). Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, inspected the progress of work on the improvement of recreational areas of the city. He studied the project of reconstruction of the lakeside promenade Nizhny Kaban and Gorkinsko-Ometevskiy forest and ordered not to delay work for an indefinite period, to provide comfortable areas to citizens in stages. 

The area of the lakeside promenade Nizhny Kaban, which is scheduled to renew, is 25.5 hectares; 216 million rubles was allocated for its accomplishment from the budget of the republic. The first phase of lakeside promenade landscaping is defined for today; work will begin after the issuance of documentation for the priority areas. The international competition of designing the development concept of the system of lakeside promenade Kaban was held in Kazan, during which the Russian-Chinese project team was recognized as the best. The project involves both the preservation of the natural landscape of the territory and creating new areas for rest of the citizens. Thus, the Chinese company “Turenscape” is the architect. 

The Mayor marked that it is necessary to carry out the work in stages, and people need to see a real difference in the landscaping. He also noted that it is necessary to proceed with the work as soon as possible and begin the first phase of reconstruction. 

Also, the Mayor learned the improvement plan of Gorkinsko-Ometevskiy forest, which involves minimal interference in the ecological system of the woodland belt. The opinions and wishes of the residents were taken into account in the development of the reconstruction concept. The forest area is 87.4 hectares; 115 million rubles allocated from the budget for its accomplishment. 

Landscaping of parking and central zones behind the Infectious Diseases Hospital, the construction of a ski resort and ecological school, the arrangement of lighting networks, electricity, water and sewage, bridges across the ravine, strengthening ravines with gabions and cleaning are provided by the sketch. 

The contractor OOO “SK Progress” has already begun landscaping; it is now the preparatory work, the breakdown of platforms and tracks. 

I. Metshin asked when Kazan will see the first update of Gorkinsko-Ometevskiy forest. According to Natalia Fishman, the assistant of the President of RT, the work will be completed before winter, because the landscaping of the park involves the creation of the modern ski slopes in the first place. “We have to work step by step. After the first stage of work we'll talk about the next one. It is necessary to create and present a cozy, beautiful park for residents and guests of the capital”, summed up Ilsur Metshin. 

Denis Kalinkin, the head of the Executive Committee of Kazan, Tatiana Prokofieva, the chief architect of Kazan, Igor Kulyazhev, the deputy head of the Executive Committee and the chairman of the Committee of Improvements, Marat Usmanov, the prefect of the “Old City” territory, representatives of the contractors and others also took part in the inspection.
