(KZN.RU, December 3). Rustam Minnikhanov, the President of the RT, held the meeting of the Republican Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the world championship on professional skills according to WorldSkills standards in Kazan in 2019.
The meeting was held at the Government House of the RT. Alexey Pesoshin, the prime minister of the RT, Robert Urazov, the general director of the Young Professionals Union (WorldSkills Russia), Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, and others attended the meeting.
Opening the meeting of the organizing committee, Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that it remains less than a year before the start of the world professional skills championship according to the WorldSkills standards. “This is a strategic project for the Republic of Tatarstan,” said Rustam Minnikhanov. “Preparation for it has entered the active stage, and we all understand how important it is to do everything in a timely and efficient manner”.
The President said that the final of the VII National Championship “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) will take place on May 20-24, 2019 in Kazan. Within the framework of this event, the International Exhibition Center “Kazan Expo” will be tested, the work will be held in all functional areas.
Rustam Minnikhanov also reminded that the world championship in professional skills WorldSkills standards will be held in Kazan on August 22-27, 2019.
“The total expected number of participants, visitors, guests of the competition is about 200 thousand people”, he said. “The work is underway on the operational headquarters and 13 working groups. Today we will discuss problematic issues in preparation for the competitions, we will hear reports from the leaders of the working groups on the preparations for the championship in the main areas”.
Azat Kadyrov, the general director of the Sports and Social Projects Directorate, made a report on the progress of preparation for the WorldSkills-2019 in Kazan.
Rafis Burganov, the deputy prime minister of the RT and the minister of Education and Science of the RT, told about the preparation of the competitive program and the development of the WorldSkills movement.
There were also reports devoted to ensuring integrated security during the preparation and holding of the championship, ensuring medical and sanitary-epidemiological well-being, providing communications and telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring interaction with the media and informational support of events.
The main exhibition venue of the championship will be the International Exhibition Center “Kazan Expo”. This site is located in neat the Kazan International Airport, which allows minimizing logistic and organizational difficulties associated with the arrival of participants and guests of the championship and the equipment delivery. The infrastructure of the Kazan Expo includes a modern congress hall for 3 thousand seats, 35 transforming halls with a capacity of 30 to 500 people, a parking zone for 2077 cars, and a catering area.
The residential complex “Universiade Village” will be used for accommodation of participants and experts of the championship.
The main cultural venue of the championship will be Skills Culture Park, an entertainment park, which will be located on the territory of the Kazan Expo.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the championship will take place at the site of the Kazan Central Stadium.
The number of expected participants was discussed during the meeting of the organizing committee. The number of participants in the previous WorldSkills professional skills championship in Abu Dhabi (2017) was 1253 people.
According to experts, the number of WorldSkills-2019 participants may grow significantly as the WorldSkills movement in Russia and in the world is gaining momentum.
According to Robert Urazov, it is necessary to foresee the possibility of increasing the competitive areas, as well as places for the participants of the championship.
Rustam Minnikhanov instructed to work on this issue and provide for the possibility of reserve places for accommodation, competitive venues and other necessary services, reports the press service of the President of the RT.
