The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of the overhaul
of the bridge on Nazarbayev Street, where traffic was closed at the end of
September.
“We planned to implement this project in 2024, but today we are changing
the construction schedule to complete the work in 2023,”- the Mayor said,
noting the importance of the bridge. “As of today, the roadbed has been
completely dismantled. In addition, utilities have been completely removed and
work on power supply networks is nearing completion,”- I. Metshin noted.
The bridge on Nazarbayev Street is one of the important transport
arteries of the capital of the republic of Tatarstan, through which a large
number of transport passes, the Mayor stressed. “I ask car owners and residents
to be patient for the inconvenience, but nothing lasts forever, and in Kazan
roads, including bridge crossings that have been outdated, require renovation,”-
I. Metshin noted.
According to Igor Kulyazhev, Deputy Head of the Executive Committee of
the city, after the completion of the work, the load of the bridge will
increase from 15 to 25 tons per axle, and to solve the traffic problems in this
area, the number of automobile lanes will increase from 6 to 8. A separate bike
path will also be equipped. “It is important for us that both drivers,
pedestrians and cyclists feel comfortable,”- he stressed.
22 workers and 10 vehicles are involved in the facility every day. The
work is carried out around the clock. “We are doing everything in time, today
all the spans have been dismantled,”- added I. Kulyazhev. The total amount of
work carried out is about 10%.
For reference, the bridge over Lake Nizhny Kaban on Nazarbayev Street
was closed for overhaul on September 28 due to cracks of the buttress. During
the inspection of the facility, experts concluded that it was dangerous for
traffic. Earlier, in 2019, due to the emergency condition of the bridge, a
restriction on the movement of heavy vehicles was introduced.
A new sidewalk has recently been laid from Khadi Taktasha Street to the
pedestrian bridge on N.Nazarbayev Street, thanks to which the way of citizens
crossing the Nizhny Kaban Lake along the embankment was shortened.
Albert Salikhov, head of the administration of the Vakhitovsky and
Privolzhsky districts of Kazan, and Stanislav Shevyryov, Director of the contracting
organization Volga-Avtodor LLC, also took part in the onsite meeting.
