The Raketa Olympic Reserve Sports School is undergoing renovation in Kazan. It is one of the oldest stadiums built in 1947. This year, the interior works take place in the stadium, where utilities, the roof, and locker rooms, hallways, and a press center will be repaired. The Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin inspected the progress of the renovation.
The Raketa Stadium was built in 1947, it has a total area of 6,800 square meters and a capacity of 5,000 spectators. The stadium is an important venue for residents of the village of Derbyshki and the entire city, many generations of athletes trained here and it shaped sports traditions of the district.
Today, almost two thousand young athletes train at the Raketa stadium. There are bandy, tennis, billiards, aerobics, sambo, and various martial arts classes. In addition to training sessions, the stadium regularly hosts competitions at various levels. It is also the home arena of the Ak Bars-Dynamo hockey club, which competes in the Russian Super League.
“This stadium is a golden history of hockey in Derbyshki. Almost half of Ak Bars-Dynamo team are local players. It is a great indicator for us. This also attracts spectators, as neighbors, friends, and relatives come to watch. You are an example of how the system works in the local community and the glorious history of the sports capital of Tatarstan. The club will get a decent venue after renovation,”- emphasized Ilsur Metshin.
The renovation is part of the fourth phase of the venue's renovation, which began on March 30 and will be completed by the end of August. The contractor has already started dismantling the outdated structures and finishes.
