Kazan declared Russia's best municipality
(KZN.RU, April 20) A ceremony of awarding the winners of the annual competition of municipalities of the Russian Federation was held at the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
This year's award ceremony was timed to the Local Government Day, which was established by President of Russia Vladimir Putin last year and is now marked every year on April 21.
Kazan was declared the best municipality of the Russian Federation. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin was awarded the diploma of the winner of the 6th All-Russian Contest of Municipalities of the Russian Federation by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak.
"Every city, every municipality was evaluated by specific indicators, but behind these dry statistics lies trmendous, strenuous work, for which I'd like to thank all of Kazan residents, the leadership of the republic and the federal center – because we're all preparing for the 2013 World Summer Universiade. We have done a lot, thank you all!" commented on the contest results Ilsur Metshin.
