(Kazan, KZN.RU, April 7, by Adelya Galieva). Fifteen modern "Optima-2" trolleybuses with a seating capacity of up to 100 passengers have been added to Kazan's public transportation fleet. Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin, along with other passengers, tried out the new trolleybus.
In total, 132 trolleybuses have been purchased during the past seven years, including the preparation for the 2013 Universiade. The new trolleybus features modern interior and improved comfort for driver and passengers. The vehicle is equipped with modern safety systems.
Ilsur Metshin decided to personally try out the new trolleybus and hear passengers' opinions about the new vehicle. The mayor of the capital of Tatarstan noted that the future of Kazan lies with this kind of public transportation. "The future lies with public transportation and especially with environmentally friendly means such as trolleybuses, trams and subway," said the mayor, speaking about the need to reduce air pollution.
