(Kazan City
KZN.RU, December 26). The Hero of the Soviet Union, World War II veteran Boris
Kirillovich Kuznetsov celebrates 90th anniversary today. Mayor Ilsur Metshin congratulated
him. The meeting was held at Kazan City Hall. The Mayor wished the veteran of a
long life, good health and presented gifts.
Today the
President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov awarded Boris
Kuznetsov with the Order "Duslyk".
Boris Kirillovich
Kuznetsov was born December 26, 1925 in Kazan. Before conscription he graduated
from the Vocational school and worked as a turner at a gunpowder factory. He began
service in the Red Army in 1942, in the Great Patriotic War – since May 1943 in
the rank of sergeant. In 1944 he graduated from courses for junior lieutenants.
As part of the troops of Voronezh, Steppe, 1st and 2nd Ukrainian fronts took
part in the Battle of the Dnieper in 1943, in Korsun-Shevchenko,
Uman-Batashanskaya (1944.), Sandamirsko-Silesia, Berlin and Prague (1945)
offensive operations.
Sergeant
signalman Boris Kuznetsov distinguished himself in crossing Dnieper. During the
long battles he repeatedly repaired damaged link. He was twice wounded, but
remained in the ranks. October 20, 1943, while being in the combat formations
of infantry company, after the death of the commander raised the fighters to
attack. February 22, 1944 he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
Later B.Kuznetsov fought in the intelligence group.
Since 1946
B.Kuznetsov is in reserve. After the war he was actively involved in the
reconstruction of the national economy: made a great contribution to the
development of the oil industry, participated in the construction of bakeries
in the cities of Almetyevsk, Chistopol and Bugulma, as well as a number of
social facilities, including - Kazan circus, brick factories and others.
In 1966
Boris Kirillovich retiring for health reasons, but continues to work, he
graduated from the Higher Party School. Throughout his career Boris Kirillovich
was actively involved in the military-patriotic education of youth, holding
meetings with students, recruits and cadets of military schools. B.Kuznetsov is
also a member of the presidium DOSAAF, ROSTO, the Committee of War Veterans and
Military Service of the Republic of Tatarstan, the National Council of Veterans
(Pensioners) of RT, the public organization "Heroes of Tatarstan",
actively participated in the work of the Tatarstan branch of the Russian
Academy of Military History.
B.Kuznetsov
awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of Red Star, two Orders of Patriotic War
I degree, 26 medals. He took part in the Victory Parade in Moscow in 1995,
1996, 1997, 2005, 2010 and 2015.
By the way,
Boris Kirillovich became the prototype of the warrior-communicator, a monument of
which was opened in Kazan on the eve of the 70th anniversary of the Great
Victory.
