(KZN.RU, March 18). By the beginning of the summer season, a new generation library will open after reconstruction on Klara Zetkin Street in Kazan near the Fisherman’s Garden. Azat Abzalov, the head of the Kazan Department of Culture, told about new services for readers and the further modernization of the city library network at the Business Monday.
He said that the creative team “Archdesant” has developed an architectural project of the library, providing for new interior solutions, logistics and functional premises with the latest equipment. The library building will be fully adapted for people with limited mobility.
The library will open new services: electronic cards with a personal barcode, giving readers the access to the “Personal Account” with the ability to search books, as well as the National Electronic Library with full-text databases.
“At present, we are faced with the task of making municipal libraries truly attractive for Kazan citizens. We want them to be perceived as a single network of cultural institutions with demanded quality services. In the future, we plan to replicate these solutions to other city libraries”, said A. Abzalov.
It is planned to complete the project by the beginning of summer, and then a similar library will appear in the Privolzhsky district on Mavlyutov Street.
Ilsur Metshin, the Mayor of Kazan, supported the idea of modernizing libraries. He noted that this would help increase youth interest in books. “These should be libraries of the XXI century. Young people should feel not like in a time machine that brings them back to the past, but on the modern edge”, noted the Mayor of Kazan.
