(Kazan, KZN.RU, July 21, by Zilya Gafiyatullina). Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin visited the Yardem mosque in the Moskovsky district, where, together with other believers, he attended evening prayer and the first meal after fast.
The Yardem mosque, located on Serov Street, opened its doors to its first worshipers a year ago. From the very start, a unique Muslim Education and Rehabilitation Center for the Visually Impaired was launched. This is Russia's first religious rehabilitation center for the blind and visually impaired Muslims, where up to 120 believers can be trained at the same time; 60 of them will be able to live in the center dormitory.
Deputy mufti of Tatarstan, Imam-Khatib of the Yardem mosque, Chairman of the Yardem National Islamic Charity Fund, Ildar Hazrat Bayazitov, told the mayor about the center possibilities. According to him, the blind and visually impaired not only from Russia, but also from countries of the former Soviet Union, including Belarus, Ukraine, Tajikistan and Kazakhstan, will be able to learn the basics of Islam and study the Quran.
After inspecting the mosque, Ilsur Metshin participated in namaz (evening prayer) and iftar (evening meal).
