(Kazan, KZN.RU, September 9, by Adelya Galiyeva) Reconstruction of the memorial area is underway in Kazan's Victory Park. The finishing work and paving should be completed by the end of October, the construction workers told Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin during this inspection visit.
The mayor was showed how the reconstruction of the memorial area was proceeding. The work is in full swing: irrigation, electricity and water supply systems are being installed, and the construction of a transformer substation, a pump house and an amenity building is proceeding apace. The erection of the "Memory Book" memorial, which will include information about Tatarstan's war veterans, is underway. The heads of departments, responsible for the reconstruction, also visited the area where military hardware had been displayed (most of it was removed for refurbishing). The park roads will be newly paved, outdoor lighting will be expanded, additional toilets and a full range of contemporary street furniture, including benches, litter bins, signs and information boards, will be installed. The park will be equipped with an automatic irrigation system. Finally, conditions for visitors with limited mobility will be created. Thus, the main entrance will be equipped with a convenient ramp.
At the end of the mayor's inspection visit, the builders assured him that the work was going on schedule and that despite the long to-do list, the park will certainly open for the 70th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
