Kazan Mayor Ilsur Metshin meets with Akim of Ust-Kamenogorsk Zhaksylyk Omar
A meeting of the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Akim of Ust-Kamenogorsk Zhaksylyk Omar took place at the Executive Committee. They discussed issues of cooperation between the cities.
Ust-Kamenogorsk is the administrative center of the East Kazakhstan region with population over 350 thousand people. The city has developed industry, in particular, non-ferrous industry.
Ilsur Metshin noted that the capital of Tatarstan actively interacts with Astana and Alma-Ata, which is a twin city of Kazan. Cooperation has been established in trade, economic, scientific, technical and cultural fields, as well as in tourism.
Representatives of Kazakhstan participate in many events held in Kazan, including sports competitions, the international forum Kazan Digital Week, conferences and round tables.
Zhaksylyk Omar, in turn, thanked Ilsur Metshin for the warm welcome given to their delegation and the opportunity to study Kazan's experience in urban planning, road construction, and sports infrastructure development. The visit took place as part of the First Summit of the Islamic Ice Hockey Association – Kazan Summit Cup 2023. Zhaksylyk Omar noted that hockey is very popular in Ust-Kamenogorsk.
For reference, the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan was opened in Kazan in 2013. It serves citizens of the country who live in 12 regions of Russia. In August, Yerlan Iskhakov assumed the post of Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazan.
