This year, the renovation of Bauman Street will continue with repairs of
three houses –cultural heritage sites. Albert Salikhov, the head of the
administration of the Vakhitovsky and Privolzhsky districts, reported on the
improvement of the street to the Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin at the summing-up
meeting on the result of work in 2022.
During the reconstruction last year, 3,795 shrubs were planted on the
main pedestrian street of the city, 2,760 square meters of paving stones were
replaced on destroyed sites, 72 lighting poles were repaired and 144 LED lamps
were replaced. Additionally, 20 benches, 9 decorative vases and 40 litter bins
were installed. New places for recreation with benches and bins, green areas with
rock spray, spirea, small-leafed linden and other plants were arranged for
residents and visitors of the city. A drip irrigation system has been equipped.
All changes were carried out taking into account the opinions of citizens who
expressed their wishes at public discussions in May.
The storm sewer system was repaired in the most challenging area – from
Astronomicheskaya Street to M.Jalil Street.
Previously, such a large-scale improvement of Bauman Street was carried
out for the 1000th anniversary of the city and maintenance works prior the
World Cup 2018.
Alongside with improvement works, the owners carried out repairs at 5
cultural heritage sites: 27 Bauman St. (Markov House), 58 Bauman St. (Grigoriev
House); 72 and 74 Bauman St. (Kalinin – Zhadina House) and 86 Bauman St. (Hotel
building). The renovation of two buildings has been completed, and at three
more buildings on Bauman str., 27, 58 and 86 work will continue this year.
Besides, representatives of the business community from Bauman Street
have updated the paving stones at their shops at their own expense. In addition,
to commemorate the visit of Catherine the Great to Kazan 255 years ago, a model
of her coach was repaired.
Under the Our Yard program in 2023, it is planned to comprehensively
improve the yard area of houses 22, 24, 26 on Bauman Street.
Along with the exterior of the street, its cultural life began to
change. After the launch of the Art-Prospect digital platform, artists began to
perform on Bauman Street only after booking the venue. Since the launch, 440
users have registered in the system, they have submitted for more than 8,020
performances.
